It can't be given ailments, but DMG DOWN, Action Speed DOWN and DEF DOWN work. Roar of Ruin (a shadow burst) does little damage with mitigation. Shadow Lightning Stance makes it invincible (your damage is negated) while it charges all 5 orbs, then it fires a stage-wide laser that Burns (400 HP/s) and Blinds: bring an equip that evades or cleanses ailments, or a taunt tank.
